From counting the no. of records leaked to the global cost of the data breaches.

Recalled an earlier article published, we found an astounding figure of 3.1 billion records leaked in 2016, conservatively. We also discovered an infiltration of law firms’ email that worth $4 million stolen, now data breaches anticipated to be at 2.1 trillion by 2019, in less than 2 years from now. 

 

What could have led to that, or which area perhaps we should pay more attention to, comparatively they are;

 

  • rapid digitization of society as a crucial factor
  • role of emergent technologies, such as mobile devices and the Internet of Things (IoT), may not necessary be the culprit and perhaps it's minimal
